‘Vishalla', the traditionally designed restaurant, came into being on the 27 nth of March 1978. The designer of the place, Mr. Surrender Patel, discovered the name ‘Vishalla' in a book – ‘Bhattachintamani' of a religious group called ‘Swaminarayan'. This book covers the life span of the Swaminarayan Guru. There is a small district in Himalayas - ‘Badri Vishala'; which is observed as a prominent solace for the ‘rishi-munis' since time unknown. The place is fit for the purpose owing to the vastness in the ambience and immense relaxation it offers. ‘Vishala' found its way into the Swaminarayan book due to the mention of the instance when the Swami goes to meditate there. The name caught the sensitive eyes of Mr. Patel as it related to his vision of the restaurant – a place to have home-like food in a relaxed atmosphere and free mind.

Vishala's portrayal like a typical Indian village finds its traces from the childhood memories of the designer. He could never find the same free, relaxed, natural tone in any city that he had experienced during his school vacation days spent in village. As a designer, he always thought of ways to bring urban crowd closer to nature, and give them also the blessed experience of feeling free. He put his ideas onto solid grounds through Vishala's layout and decorum, which is now making us all proud through its rich culture.
